Week 9 of the 2025-26 NBA season forced us to think about the future of the league. Commissioner Adam Silver acknowledged the offensive tilt, Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren's sparks flew, and the NBA Cup proved its doubters wrong.
The league stands at a crossroads. Scoring inflation is rewriting record books, but is it really what fans want? Can a new rivalry recapture the legendary battles of the '80s and '90s? And can a tournament modeled after European soccer take root in the NBA landscape?
